Is it Time for Some SEO (Search Engine Optimisation)?

There is a popular myth out there in digital marketing land. Google, (and other search engines such as Bing, AOL etc), will find your website and add it to their indexes soon after it is launched. That is true up to a point, but it doesn’t always work out, here’s why.

Paid for Advertising, (ppc), is Sometimes the Answer - But it’s Not for Everyone

Websites are often designed with aesthetics as the first priority. They look good and provide a pleasant experience for those who visit them. If you are driving traffic to your website with ads or other paid-for methods then all is good - but does the cost of advertising sit comfortably with your margins, is the CPA (cost per acquisition) acceptable to you?

If the answer to the above is “yes” then you’re good - stop reading now.

Those Requiring Free Website Traffic - Read On

On the other hand, if you find online advertising scary, and expensive, as many businesses do, then you are going to have to rely on people finding your site “organically” - usually as a result of a search.

Sounds good? It’s free traffic to your website, the best kind, right?

Of course it’s right. Problem is, are you getting it? With so many businesses the answer is “no” or “not as much as I need”.

Why might that be? - usually it is because, when a search is carried out, it’s your competitor’s websites that are shown in the search results, not yours.

This is nearly always because your website isn’t indexed properly by search engines. If your web pages are not fully understood by Google and friends, they can’t suggest you to potential visitors, (customers). You lose.

How to Get More Free Website Traffic

There are many things you can do to remedy this. First and foremost you will have to look at the structure of your website. The process is a bit like buying a house - before you put your money on the table you will usually ask a surveyor to take a look at the property. It may look great and be in a brilliant location but what if the surveyor comes back and says that it is structurally unsound, falling down?

You won’t buy it will you? Google feels the same way - it doesn't care how gorgeous your website looks if it is badly built and in danger of collapsing. That’s why it is important to pay attention to various “technical” issues that may be stopping them from including it in their index fully.

If you didn’t, and you are noticeable by your absence in search engine results, it’s time to contact us - a free website audit is yours for the asking. This will identify any problems that could be preventing your website from showing on the first page of Google when people are searching for whatever it is that you make or do.
